Three major matches are now official for WWE Backlash following a chaotic episode of WWE Raw on Monday night, including a blockbuster World Championship main event between Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu.

The show-closing segment saw Reigns make his way to the ring and demand an answer from Fatu regarding his future with the family. Reigns urged his relative to unite the family rather than divide it, but Fatu made his intentions crystal clear.

Fatu declared he didn’t need a week, a day, or even an hour to decide—he wants the title.

“The Samoan Werewolf” said he had to grind for everything he earned and claimed he never heard from Reigns or The Usos during his journey. Instead, Fatu credited Solo Sikoa as the one who reached out and brought him to WWE.

Before Reigns could fully respond, Fatu snapped and launched a brutal assault on the Tribal Chief, taking him down and locking in the Tongan Death Grip. After the attack, Fatu attempted to leave, but Reigns recovered enough to shout that he would see Fatu at Backlash on May 9 in Tampa, officially setting the championship clash.

Also announced for the premium live event, IYO SKY will go one-on-one with Asuka in a heated grudge match.

SKY had challenged Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship earlier in the night, but Asuka’s interference cost her the match. Later in a backstage promo, Asuka claimed she was not finished with her former student, saying she only ever tried to teach SKY and now nothing would stop her from destroying her.

Asuka promised to teach one final lesson at Backlash, declaring that SKY is not—and never will be—ready for Asuka.

The opening segment of Raw set up another marquee showdown as Seth Rollins confronted Bron Breakker over his loss to Gunther at WrestleMania.

Rollins blamed Breakker for the WrestleMania defeat, saying the rising star wasn’t ready for the spotlight. Breakker fired back, saying he was on his way to becoming a main event player without Rollins and calling the former World Champion the best at being “number two.”

Rollins then made the challenge for Backlash official before delivering one final insult on his way out, telling “Steiner” that he wasn’t even number two in his own family.

Currently announced for WWE Backlash on May 9 in Tampa:

  • World Champion Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu
  • Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker
  • IYO SKY vs. Asuka
