The night opened with Roman Reigns flanked by Jimmy and Jey Uso as “The Tribal Chief” addressed the growing tension within the family. Reigns said he was willing to leave the past in the past and called The Usos the only people he could trust. Jey admitted he understood Jacob Fatu’s desire to “upgrade his household,” but not at Roman’s expense, while Jimmy warned that Jacob was dangerous and there needed to be consequences for stepping up. Roman promised to address the situation later in the night.
Seth “Freakin’” Rollins kicked off the show by calling out Bron Breakker over his role in costing him the World Heavyweight Championship and WrestleMania. Breakker, accompanied by Paul Heyman, fired back by accusing Rollins of using him and Bronson Reed as errand boys. The two traded heated verbal shots, with Rollins questioning Breakker’s readiness for the main event scene and Breakker calling Rollins “the best in the world at being number two.” The confrontation ended with Rollins challenging Breakker to a match at Backlash, which was later made official.
Backstage, chaos erupted in the women’s division when Raquel Rodriguez blindsided Stephanie Vaquer. Roxanne Perez then crushed Vaquer between two road crates as Liv Morgan declared the Women’s World Championship belonged to her.
Penta defeated Rusev
Penta escaped the Accolade and baited Rusev into kicking him out of mid-air while he held onto the ropes, allowing him to score a quick schoolboy pin. After the match, Rusev attacked Penta, and Ethan Page attempted to join in before backing off when confronted. Once Penta fought back, Page attacked from behind, and he and Rusev ganged up on Penta until Je’Von Evans made the save.
Los Americanos later appeared in a backstage interview, where El Grande Americano II announced he would face El Grande Americano I in a Mask vs. Mask match and issued a challenge to Rey Mysterio as preparation.
Becky Lynch then hit the ring to celebrate becoming the first woman to win four different championships at WrestleMania and boasted about her reign as Women’s Intercontinental Champion. She issued an open challenge, which was answered by Iyo Sky. Becky mocked Iyo and Rhea Ripley before Iyo slapped her, prompting Adam Pearce to make the title match official on the spot.

Iyo had momentum late in the bout, but Asuka appeared and tripped her while the referee was distracted checking on Becky. Lynch capitalized to retain. After the match, Asuka attacked Iyo and locked in the Asuka Lock. It was later announced that Iyo Sky vs. Asuka is official for Backlash.
Backstage, tensions escalated between Rey Mysterio, El Grande Americano I, and Los Americanos as accusations of favoritism flew ahead of the Mask vs. Mask showdown.
Byron Saxton later interviewed The Usos backstage before LA Knight interrupted, telling them they didn’t need Roman and warning that when power corrupts, it becomes his business.
Joe Hendry made his first main roster appearance on Raw with an in-ring concert, officially announcing he had signed with the red brand. Hendry mocked Logan Paul and asked Adam Pearce to fire him, prompting Logan and Austin Theory to interrupt. After a verbal exchange, the duo overwhelmed Hendry until The Street Profits made the save. Hendry and The Profits cleared the ring to a big ovation.
Grayson Waller confronted Adam Pearce backstage demanding opportunities and insulting Oba Femi, who was standing behind him and made it clear he wanted Waller in the ring later.
Rey Mysterio defeated El Grande Americano II
Outside interference nearly cost Rey the match as Bravo Americano distracted the referee and Rayo Americano inserted a steel plate into El Grande Americano II’s mask. Rayo was neutralized with a 619, and El Grande Americano I appeared to stop his rival from using the loaded mask. Rey capitalized with another 619 to pick up the win. Afterward, El Grande Americano I attacked El Grande Americano II, forcing officials to separate them.
A pre-taped promo from Asuka aired later in the night, with “The Empress of Tomorrow” declaring Iyo Sky had failed her and her family and promising to destroy her at Backlash.
Oba Femi defeated Grayson Waller
“The Ruler” made quick work of Waller before announcing the start of the Oba Femi Open Challenge, inviting anyone to step up and test themselves against the top of the mountain.
Backstage, Liv Morgan attempted to reassure Roxanne Perez that The Judgment Day was family despite recent issues with Finn Balor. Balor later warned Perez not to trust Liv or anyone else in the group.

A video package also announced that Sol Ruca will officially sign her Raw contract next week.
The main event segment saw Roman Reigns return to the ring to address Jacob Fatu. Reigns proclaimed that the World Heavyweight Championship had been created to take away his shine, but instead he had made it relevant and respected. Jacob Fatu interrupted and made it clear he wasn’t interested in unity—he wanted Roman’s title. Fatu detailed his struggles before WWE and credited Solo Sikoa for giving him an opportunity, while Roman dismissed Solo and reminded Jacob that he was the one who signed off on him.
The confrontation turned physical when Jacob Fatu planted Roman with the Tongan Death Grip and choked him unconscious in the center of the ring. As Jacob stood over the fallen champion, Roman warned him that he owed him at Backlash. Jacob promised he’d see Roman next week as Raw went off the air.
