Bruce Prichard is reportedly expected to step away from his full-time role with WWE following WrestleMania 43 next year.
According to a report from PWInsider.com, multiple sources have confirmed that Prichard is expected to retire from his position as Executive Director of Creative Writing & Talent following WrestleMania season. The report notes that Prichard, 63, could remain affiliated with WWE in a consulting capacity, although he would no longer maintain his current responsibilities or live in Stamford, Connecticut.
While one source indicated that WrestleMania would mark the end of Prichard’s current run, another cautioned that the timeline could shift, given the unpredictable nature of the professional wrestling business.
Prichard has been a prominent figure in WWE for decades, initially gaining recognition among fans in the 1990s as the on-screen character Brother Love. Behind the scenes, he worked closely with Vince McMahon as a trusted member of WWE’s creative and production teams.
After departing WWE in 2008, Prichard became widely known for the podcast Something to Wrestle With, which he co-hosted with Conrad Thompson. The program featured in-depth discussions about WWE’s history, major events and key personalities. Its popularity eventually led to a series based on the podcast airing on the WWE Network. JBL frequently co-hosts the current version of the show with Thompson, while Prichard continues to make appearances.
Prichard returned to WWE in a full-time capacity in 2019, taking on a major creative role and working directly with McMahon before continuing under Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s leadership. His responsibilities have included overseeing television tapings when Levesque was unavailable.
According to the report, WWE’s writing teams for Raw, SmackDown and NXT currently fall under Prichard’s position within the company’s creative hierarchy.
There has been no word on who would succeed Prichard should he step away from his current duties. With WrestleMania 43 still months away, WWE has time to determine how the creative structure could change if the reported transition moves forward.
Prichard’s potential departure from full-time duties would mark a significant change for WWE’s creative operation, given his longstanding relationship with the company and his involvement across multiple eras.
This report is based on information published by PWInsider.com. WWE has not been reported as officially confirming Prichard’s retirement plans.
