The night kicked off with Kali Armstrong talking about her attack on the NXT Women’s Champion last week, trying to make the claim that the dominance she showed was enough to put her directly into title contention. Armstrong was interrupted by the former champion Lola Vice and Kelani Jordan, who both argued they should receive the next championship opportunity. A fist fight broke out between Jordan and Vice, before Armstrong took them both out and stood strong in the center of the ring.
Match One
Fatal Four Way Tag Team Match To Become The Number One Contenders For The NXT Tag Team Championships:
Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux Defeated OTM (Lucien Price and Bronco Nima), Darkstate (Cutler James and Osiris Griffin) and Birthright (Stacks and Uriah Conners, With Lexis Kind and Arianna Grace) By Pinfall
The match began with Sean Legacy using his fast paced ability to break up the hard hitting ‘hoss’ fight between the two biggest men in the match; Griffin and Nima, showing his athletic and cunning nature. Darkstate worked well as a team, utilizing quick tags and isolating opponents to beat them down before their former teammate Saquon Shugar’s appearance caused a major distraction and essentially took them out of the match. After OTM double teamed Conners, the rest of Birthright pulled them out of the ring, starting a massive brawl between the teams. This gave Van Dux and Sean Legacy the chance to land two consecutive splashes from the top rope onto Uriah and become the new number one contenders for the tag team championships.
Match Two:
Keanu Carver Defeated Tank Ledger Via Pinfall
Once the bell sounded, Carver tried to charge at and overpower Tank, but Ledger would avoid contact and use his own strength to send Keanu out of the ring. Tank’s offensive flurry would be quickly stopped as Keanu knocked Tank down and proceeded to lay in very stiff forearms onto the former tag champion. Despite putting up a good fight, Tank would be defeated after being hit with a dropkick and an Alabama Slam.
A very interesting video about Naraku played, where the international star restated his intentions to become NXT Champion.
Match Three
Fatal Four Way Match To Become The Number One Contender For The NXT Women’s North American Championship:
Layla Diggs Defeated Lizzy Rain, Thea Hail and Izzi Dame Via Pinfall
Izzi Dame had a really impressive showing early in the match when she overpowered her smaller opponents, repeatedly sending them crashing to the mat. Rain proved to be very problematic for the other women, consistently showing up at the right moment to lay in chops or break up pinfalls; showing the newcomer’s high ring IQ. The over-caffeinated Hail displayed her intensity and strength when she dropped Diggs with a suplex and hit a double crossbody and senton combination on Lizzy and Layla. After a very chaotic sequence where Rain hit Thea with ‘Thunderstruck’ before receiving a ‘Claymore’ from Dame, Diggs picked the perfect moment and landed a beautiful moonsault onto the former NA Champion Hail to become the new number one contender for the NXT Women’s North American Championship/ Diggs will face the champion Zaria for the title next week..
Tavion Heights was in the ring trying to make a public apology to his former NQCC tag partner Myles Borne. Heights’ heartfelt speech was interrupted by Jackson Drake, flanked by The Vanity Project, who wanted a rematch. Heights did not back down and punched the loudmouth in the face, but would be beaten down as he was outnumbered. Fortunately for Heights, Borne seemed to have accepted the apology as he came out to save his friend.
Match Four:
Niko Vance (With Izzi Dame) Defeated ‘Mr. NXT’ Shiloh Hill Via Pinfall
The two big men brutalized one another in a very evenly matched exchange in the early moments of this contest. Vance would be the first to take control, hitting Hill with a gutwrench suplex and a diving headbutt from the second rope for a near fall. The fans rallied behind Hill, who fought back with a massive boot to the face and straight right hand, before his recent rival Tristan Angels distracted him. Angels’ appearance diverted Hill’s attention long enough for Vane to hit a side suplex and ‘X Marks The Spot’ to pick up the hard earned victory.
After the match, Vance was attacked by his former Culling teammate Shawn Spears, who laid him out with a steel chair.
It was announced that Lola Vice, Kelani Jordan and Kali Armstrong will compete in a triple threat match next week and the winner will become the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship.
Match Five
NXT Women’s Championship Match:
Kendal Grey (Champion, With Wren Sinclair) Defeated ‘The Low Key Legend’ Nattie (With Nikkita Lyons and Karmen Petrovic) Via Pinfall
This championship contest started with a very evenly matched technical exchange where both women tried to out wrestle the other. Nattie changed the match’ s momentum by disrespectfully slapping Gray across the face and sending her to the outside of the ring. While Nattie’s students were attacking Sinclair, Lola Vice ran out to even up the numbers and chase them off. Nattie proceeded to overwhelm the champion, locking in a sleeper hold she made more devastating by wrapping her entire body around Kendal. After avoiding the Sharpshooter and exchanging pinfall attempts, Kendal hit the ‘Shades of Grey’ out of nowhere and was victorious in her first title defense.
After the match, all three women that are competing next week stood on different sides of the ring and surrounded the champion, reminding Kendal of what lies ahead. On the outside, Jaida Parker knocked out Lyons and Petrovic and stared down Nattie, reminding ‘The Low Key Legend’ that their situation is far from over.
