Sheamus is set to leave WWE after his contract with the company expired, according to Fightful Select.

It should be noted that Sheamus was not released by WWE. Fightful reports that the former WWE Champion turned down a contract extension before his deal expired.

WWE had reportedly approached Sheamus about a restructured contract while he was sidelined with an injury, but he quickly rejected the offer. His contract was already set to expire within months of that discussion, meaning there was no need for WWE to release him and trigger a 90-day non-compete period.

Sheamus has been one of WWE’s most decorated stars, holding multiple world championships, tag team titles, the United States Championship, King of the Ring, Money in the Bank, and Royal Rumble honors during his run with the company.
