The night kicked off with the new NXT Women’s Champion Kendal Grey giving a very vulnerable, heartfelt speech. The champion’s moment was temporarily interrupted by Kelani Jordan who tried to argue her way into a championship but would be attacked and ran off by Tatum Paxley instead.
Backstage, it was revealed that the AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo Del Vikingo was attacked by a lead pipe wielding Keanu Carver. Due to this attack, Vikingo’s scheduled title defense would be cancelled and his opponent EK Prosper would face Carver.
Match One
NXT Tag Team Championship Match:
The Vanity Project (Champions, Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes With Jackson Drake and Myka Lockwood ) Defeated Dr. Wagner Jr and Galeno Via Pinfall
For the majority of this match the champions had a hard time countering their much larger challengers, who overpowered The Vanity Project and threw them around the ring. After some miscommunication and well timed double team offense, Smokes was able to land a double stomp from the top rope on Galeno to pick up the victory for his team and remain NXT Tag Team Champion.
Match Two:
Jackson Drake (With Vanity Project and Myka Lockwood) Defeated Mason Rook Via Pinfall
Drake tried to stick and move against the massive Rook in the early moments of this match, delivering well placed kicks to Mason’s side, but would soon be caught and overpowered. As Jackson appeared to be in a lot of trouble, Smokes tried to interfere but would be taken out and thrown out of the ring onto his partner for his effort. This distraction allowed Drake to hit Rook with a backstabber and earn the unpopular victory.
After the match, Mason Rook would take out some of his frustrations by destroying The Vanity Project.
Match Three:
EK Prosper Defeated Keanu Carver Via Pinfall
After being manhandled for a lot of this match, Prosper was able to knock Carver out of the ring and use the outside area to combat Keanu’s brute strength. Back in the ring, Keanu regained control by violently striking the evasive high flyer. After sending Prosper crashing into the announce table, Tank appeared and got some revenge from this past Sunday when he threw Carver through the LED barrier. This attack gave EK the opportunity to kick Keanu in the face and hit him with a moonsault from the top rope to gain a second consecutive victory over Carver.
Backstage, GM Stone was talking to Kendal Grey about who her next challenger should be. He told Kendal that despite her willingness to be a fighting champion, everyone would have to earn a title match. In the spirit of “earning it”, he then informed Grey that next week Layla Diggs, Izzi Dame, Thea Hail and Lizzy Rain will compete in a fatal four way match where the winner will become the new number one contender for the NXT North American Championship They were interrupted by Nattie, who after listing her attributes, was given a championship match against Gray next week; despite technically not earning one.
Match Four:
Jaida Parker Defeated Karmen Petrovic (With Nattie, Nakita Lyons and Layla Diggs) Via Pinfall
After echoing the sentiment of her mentor Nattie, Karmen was overpowered by Parker who struck her opponent while staring down the “Low Key Legend” and her cohorts. Jaida consistently dividing her attention would give Karmen the opening and hit Parker with ‘Eat Da Feet’ for a near fall. Being held by Lyons and struck by Nattie on the outside fired up Parker who proceeded to hit Karmen with ‘Hipnotic’and ‘Dejavu’ to pick up the much needed victory.
After the match, Jaida stood down Nattie and loudly proclaimed things were not over between them.
The still blinded NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo came out to put everyone in the locker room on notice, stating that he believes no one is capable of taking the title from him. After the impassioned speech, D’Angelo was attacked from behind with a steel chair by Naraku, who is apparently not done with the champion.
Match Five:
Kelani Jordan Defeated Tatum Paxley Via Pinfall
The two familiar foes started off this match trying to gain control over the other, with neither being able to do so. After Tatum’s foot accidentally connected with the turnbuckle instead of her opponent, Jordan targeted the weakened ankle with stomps and submissions. While this match was going on, the NXT Women’s Champions was attacked by her old rival Kali Armstrong who knocked Grey out of the chair she was doing commentary in. The two women stood in the center of the ring and exchanged right hands and then near falls, showing how evenly matched and motivated they were. In the end, Jordan hit Paxley with a modified Angle Slam and the ‘One Of A Kind’ split legged moonsault to pin Tatum for the first time.
After the match, Tatum Paxley was attacked by a powerful woman wrestling fans know as Nikki Blackhart.
