NXT Show Results
6.16.26
By: Courtney Wood
The show kicked off with the new Women’s North American Champion Zaria celebrating her victory after a very emotional journey. The champion would be interrupted by Kelani Jordan who kind of empathized with her and then Kendal Gray and Lola Vice who definitely did not. Naturally all four women started to argue, thankfully before things got out of hand, GM Stone made a tag match for later in the evening.
Match One
NXT North American Championship Number One Contender Match:
Tavion Heights Defeated Jackson Drake (With Myka Lockwood and The Vanity Project) Via Pinfall
The very focused Heights began this match by overpowering Drake, throwing him around the ring before dropping him on the mat repeatedly. Vanity Project’s numbers advantage came into play as their distractions allowed Jackson to hit Heights in the face with a knee and take control of the important contest. Unfortunately, when the tag team champions tried to interfere again they were stopped by Tavion’s former NQCC partner, the North American Champion, Myles Borne. Once the odds were even, Heights was able to hit Jackson with the ‘Height Of Glory’ modified belly to belly suplex and become the new number one contender.
Match Two
First Round Match In The NXT Women’s Speed Championship Number One Contenders Tournament:
Izzi Dame Defeated Thea Hail Via Pinfall
Despite being very energetic and agile for the majority of the contest, eventually Hale would be kneed in the face by the powerful Dame who will move on to the next round of the tournament.
The NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo had a sit down meeting with the man who will challenge him at the Great American Bash, Naraku to sign the contract for their match. Interestingly, only D’Angelo would sign, promising to fill out the paperwork next week.
Backstage, GM Stone informed Keanu Carver that he will be facing EK Prosper next week.
Match Three:
Nattie Defeated Jaida Parker Via Submission
Given the harsh words that were spoken the past few weeks, it is no surprise the two women beat the life out of the other during the opening moments of this very back and forth extremely hard hitting match. Despite trading slaps and submissions, Nattie continued to overlook the newcomer, consistently playing to the crowd instead of focusing on her opponent. Miss Parker took the fight to the ‘Low Key Legend’, booting her in the face hitting the tear drop and ‘hipnotic’ for the very near fall. After being run knee first into the steel steps and hit with the diskus lariat, Parker was locked in the sharpshooter and forced to tap out.
Match Four
First Round Match In The NXT Women’s Speed Championship Number One Contenders Tournament:
Arianna Grace (With Birthright) Defeated Layla Diggs Via Pinfall
After the two traded pinfall attempts for the majority of the contest, Diggs took her focus off of her opponent and took out the members of Birthright with a moonsault to the outside. When Diggs reentered the ring, Grace played possum by pretending to be hurt in order to roll her up and win the match.
Match Five
Tag Team Match:
Lola Vice (NXT Women’s Champion) and Kendel Gray Defeated Zaria (NXT Women’s North American Champion) and Kelani Jordan Via Pinfall
Vice and Gray worked well as a team in the opening moments of the match, keeping Jordan in their corner and implementing fast paced offense. This makeshift partnership would be tested often when either Zaria or Kelani gained momentum, as Gray or Vice would tag themselves in; seemingly to prove something to the other. Eventually, things broke down at the end of the match when many of the women hit powerful moves and knocked one another down on the outside of the ring, leaving Zaria the only one standing. As she had Vice on her shoulders, the former North American Champion Tatum Paxley just appeared out of nowhere, distracting Zaria enough that Vice was able to kick her in the head and land her signature spinning backfist to pick up the victory for her team.
After the match, Paxley attacked Zaria and the two brawled out of the arena. Back in the ring, Kelani once again went for the Women’s Championship belt, but this time Vice would be inadvertently struck with it by Kendal; a reverse of what occurred last week.
