Match One:
Zaria Defeated Lizzy Rain Via Pinfall
Despite successfully avoiding Zaria’s lethal grip during the opening minutes of this contest, Rain was eventually overpowered, ran spine first into the ring apron multiple times and placed in several submissions; seemingly to drain the life out of Lizzie. The ‘Maiden Of Metal’ brawled back with shots to the midsection and a well timed tornado DDT for a near fall. Unfortunately for Rain, after she displayed her deceptive strength by hoisting Zaria onto her shoulders and delivering a Samoan Drop, Zaria continued to show her new ruthless attitude and hit a German Suplex, Spear and ‘Beast Mode’ sequence to pick up the victory.
After the match, Zaria was getting ready to hit Rain with the F5. Fortunately the NXT Women’s North American champion, Tatum Paxley, prevented the attack by giving the angry powerhouse what she wanted; a championship match next week.
As Darkstate were making their entrance, Cutler James was attacked by former stablemate Saquon Shugars. This prevented Cutler from competing the rest of this evening and put the tag team match in jeopardy.
Match Two
Tag Team Match
OTM (Bronco Lima and Lucien Price) Defeated The Culling (Niko Vance and Shawn Spears With Izzi Dame) Via Pinfall
OTM went right after their opponents before the match even started, taking out their recent frustrations and gaining a lot of needed retribution. Once in the ring, OTM continued to overpower Spears until he tagged in the larger Vance, who came in and punished both Lima and Price. After Spears’ nose was busted, things became desperate for The Culling who implemented tandem offense to earn a near fall. In the end, while Spears was checking on his partner Niko, both members of OTM sent him crashing into the mat which allowed them to pick up the victory.
After the perceived miscommunication blamed on Spears, Dame being unable to become NXT Women’s Champion and this loss, tension seems to be rising within The Culling.
Match Three:
Jackson Drake (With Myka Lockwood and The Vanity Project) Defeated Tate Wilder Via Pinfall
The two young stars had a very evenly matched back and forth exchange during the opening moments of this match. Wilder took control of the contest after he dove out of the ring onto the Vanity Project and later hit Drake with a massive splash from the top rope, showing his daredevil attitude. Right as it seemed Wilder was moments away from victory, he took another risk instead of going for the pin. This “reckless” decision would end up costing Tate the match as he was caught by Lockwood, sent into the ringpost and the apron, and then hit with a 450 splash by Drake, proving a lot of Wilder’s critics right.
Backstage, NXT GM Stone was telling Osiris Griffin that his tag match against Myles Borne and Tavion Heights would have to be postponed. As Griffin was trying to convince Stone to change his mind, he was attacked from behind with a steel chair by Shugars while the room’s lights flickered.
NXT Women’s Champion Lola Vice was in the ring to address all of the talented women who are coming after her title. Lola was interrupted by Kelani Jordan and Kendal Grey, who both feel they deserve a championship match. After both women made their cases, Vice told them to fight next week and the winner will face her at The Great American Bash. As Vice was leaving the ring, Jordan stole her title, causing Lola to instinctively react and accidentally hit Grey with a devastating spinning backfist.
Backstage, Tatum Paxley was attacked by Zaria.
Match Four
NXT Speed Championship Match:
Lexis King (Champion, With Birthright) Defeated Romeo Moreno (With Noam Dar) Via Pinfall
Despite putting up a very good fight, in the last 50 seconds of the match Romeo was struck with a knee to the back of the head and dropped with ‘The Coronation’, allowing King to pick up the victory and remain the Speed Champion.
Backstage, Nattie and Jaida Parker had another verbal confrontation. After Parker challenged the ‘Low Key Legend’ to a match or a fight, Nattie told the upstart she did not buy her intimation act and called her soft; an accustation that visibly got to Miss. Parker.
Match Five
Tag Team Match:
Darkstate (Dion Lennox and Osiris Griffin) Defeated Myles Borne (NXT North American Champion) and Tavion Heights Via Pinfall
Darkstate’s bad night continued as they were unable to gain momentum in the early moments of the match, as Lennox was outwrestled by Myles and the weakened Griffin was picked apart by Heights. After his team was beaten down fairly badly for the majority of the contest, Lennox took control of his team as its leader and implemented some fast paced tag team offense, eventually hitting Tavion with a massive ‘Electric Chair’ for the hard fought victory.
After the match, Saquon was shown in the building’s balcony waving a metal baseball bat, strongly indicating that he is not planning to let this betrayal go anytime soon.
Match Six
NXT Heavyweight Championship Match:
Tony D’Angelo (Champion) Defeated Kam Hendrix Via Pinfall
From the moment the bell sounded the brash Hendrix overwhelmed D’Angelo, hitting him with a ‘Showtime Kick’, neckbreaker and a DDT for three consecutive near falls. Taking this much of a one sided beating while being disrespected fired up the former Don, who threw Kam to the mat with three German suplexes and a spinebuster. Eventually this hoss fight spilled to the outside, where Mason Rook appeared, which allowed Tony to send Kam crashing backwards onto the announce table with a backbody drop. Back in the ring, D’Angelo hit the ‘Dead To Rights’ chokeslam to remain champion.
After the match, it was announced that next week Mason Rook and Naraku will square off and the winner will face The NXT Heavyweight Champion at The Great American Bash.
