NXT kicked off with NXT Women’s Champion Tatum Paxley and The Culling addressing their loss last week and Paxley’s compulsion to give other women a championship opportunity. As Dame and Paxley were talking, they were interrupted by Fatal Influence. The former Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne played mind games and exploited Paxley’s compassionate nature in an attempt to receive a rematch. After taking a brief moment to consider what Jayne said, Paxley decided to give Jacy a title shot next week at’NXT Goldrush’.
Match One
NXT Speed Championship Match:
Jasper Troy Defeated El Grande Americano (Champion With Los Americanos) Via Pinfall
Troy overcame the elusive high flying offense, loaded head butts and numbers disadvantage of Americano and planted the champion with a ‘Black Hole Slam’ powerful enough to make The Monster the new Speed Champion.
Backstage, Sol Ruca and Zaria were talking to NXT GM Ava. Sol informed the GM that she was medically cleared and wanted her rematch for the Women’s NXT North American Championship. It took a little convincing, but eventually Ava agreed to make the match; at NXT Goldrush, Sol Ruca will face Blake Monroe.
Match Two
Thea Hail (With Joe Hendry) Defeated Alba Fyre (With Chelsea Green and Ethan Page) Via Pinfall
Despite Thea immediately going after Fyre’s arm, the under-appreciated veteran took control of the majority of this match. The two talented females exchanged massive headbutts and chops in the center of the ring, with neither gaining an advantage. After a very chaotic sequence where all the wrestlers on the outside would get involved, Hail was able to capitalize on the situation, roll up Fyre and pick up the victory.
Women’s NXT North American Champion Blake Monroe played a video of her being interviewed by a darker version of herself referred to as ‘The Woman From Hell’. The message of the segment was after Monroe struggled with her inner darkness, she eventually vowed to do whatever it takes to remain champion.
Backstage, the number one contender for the TNA Knockouts championship Jordynne Grace was addressing her upcoming match. Grace reminded Kelani, and the world, that she was a dominant champion and promised to regain the Knockouts Championship in two weeks.
Je’Von Evans was in the ring and his tag partner Leon Slater appeared on screen via satellite; the two highly gifted athletes talked about facing the NXT Tag Team Champions Dark State next week at Goldrush. Unsurprisingly, the lights went out and all the members of Dark State surrounded the ring. Right as the champions were about to eliminate one half of their challengers, it turned out that this was a trap and Slater was actually in the building. All six men began to fight and eventually Evans and Slater ran off Dark State.
Match Three
NXT Women’s Speed Championship Tournament:
Fallon Henley (With Fatal Influence) Defeated Skylar Raye Via Pinfall
The NXT newcomer Raye put up a very good fight in her debut match, but the very seasoned Henley would advance in the tournament after hitting Skyler with a kick to the back of the head.
In two weeks at Goldrush, Henley will face Zaria for the Women’s Speed Championship.
Match Four:
Tavion Heights Defeated Josh Briggs Via Pinfall
The moment the bell sounded, Briggs hit Heights with a massive boot to the face. The two longtime rivals had a fairly even exchange, with Tavion displaying his technical ability and Briggs utilizing his strength advantage. Briggs punished Heights for the majority of the match, but in the final moments the Olympian hit the big man with a ‘Belly To Belly’ and picked up the victory.
Backstage, Kendal Grey and Lainey Reid got into a physical altercation. It would be announced later in the evening that these two will square off for the Women’s Evolve Championship in two weeks at Goldrush.
Match Five
Last Man Standing Match For The NXT Heavyweight Championship:
Ricky Saints (Champion) Defeated Trick Williams
Williams wasted no time and attacked Saints’ visibly injured taped up ribs by hitting him in the midsection with a kendo stick; a strategy he would implement multiple times throughout the match. The two bitter rivals utilized the no disqualification rules of the match and brutalized one another with weapons including; steel chairs, metal trashcans and their lids, kendo sticks and the solid steel ringstairs. Saints continuously proved how resilient he is, enduring the onslaught, even using the ring’s ropes to get back to his feet. After several minutes of carnage that spilled out amongst the WWE universe, Saints would jump from the crowd and spear Williams through the announce table, a maneuver so impactful it kept Trick down for the ten count; Saints is still NXT Champion.
After the match, former NXT Champion Oba Femi returned. The ruler made his presence known by simply standing in the entrance way.
