1/6/26

The first NXT show of the year was supposed to be for the Women’s North American Championship, but that match did not happen as Monroe attacked the champion while Thea was making her entrance, then proceeded to hit Hail with a chair and threw her through the protective barrier. Later in the evening, Ava banned Blake from the building and allowed Hail to issue an open challenge.

Former NXT Champion Ricky Saints came out to tell the less than enthusiastic crowd that while many superstars are leaving the brand to go to Raw or Smackdown, he is here to stay.

Match One:

Tatum Paxley Defeated Izzi Dame Via Pinfall

The powerhouse Izzi used her size and strength to punish her former friend, sending her flying across the ring; often by her hair. Paxley tapped into her emotional pain and fought back against the woman she thought was her sister, locking her in multiple submissions targeting Dame’s knee. After a very physical and emotionally painful contest, Paxley hit a cartwheel kick to the back of the head, a 450 splash and ‘Cemetery Drive’ to earn a very hard fought victory.

Match Two

NXT Women’s Championship Match:

Jacy Jayne (Champion With Fatal Influence) Defeated Kendal Grey (With Wren Sinclair) Via Pinfall

Grey took control of this championship contest very early, trying to out wrestle Jayne in a very technical exchange. Jacy simply overpowered her challenger, throwing her into the barrier and hitting her with a vicious cannonball. In a very exciting moment, both competitors had very near falls when Grey hit a German suplex and Jayne hit a running knee. After a very chaotic sequence when everyone at ringside got involved, Fallon Henley saved Jayne from danger and allowed her stablemate to hit her rolling encore forearm to retain her championship.

Match Three

NXT Women’s North American Championship Match:

Izzi Dame Defeated Thea Hail (Champion) Via Pinfall

The entire women’s locker room tried to get in the ring but in a surprising moment Tatum Paxley cleared her way wielding a chainsaw allowing Izzi Dame to accept the challenge. Dame proceeded to overpower Hail, targeting the champion’s taped up ribs and dropping her with a running powerslam. The plucky Hail endured and whenever possible would reverse Dame’s momentum, rolling her up for a few near falls. After choke slamming Hail on the announce table, Dame would hit a top rope ‘Dame Over’ to become the new North American Champion.

Backstage, Lola Vice and Kelani Jordan got into a fight.

Backstage, Joe Hendry demanded a no disqualification match against Dark State’s Dion Lennox next week. NXT GM Ava told Joe that she would only make the match if he finds some friends to support him to ensure things won’t turn into a handicapped match. Later in the evening we saw Hendry recruit OTM.

NXT North American Champion Ethan Page came out to brag about retaining his championship. Page would be interrupted by NXT Speed Champion Jasper Troy, Josh Briggs, Stacks, Shiloh Hill and Tavion Heights. Unsurprisingly, a massive brawl broke out with Hill holding the ring.

Match Four

NXT Championship Match:

Oba Femi (Champion) Defeated Leon Slater Via Pinfall

The champion overpowered the challenger in the early moments of the match, chopping him to the mat and then locking in a sleeper hold trying to ground the gifted high flyer. The very agile Slater consistently landed on his feet, flew around the ring and proceeded to chop down the massive Femi. After a very competitive match, Femi would send Slater crashing to the mat with a massive pop up powerbomb to retain his championship.

After the match Oba laid the championship title down, leaving it in the ring.
