Homecoming kicked off with the man who created NXT, Triple H, talking about the brand’s importance and thanking everyone who made this night happen.

Match One

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match:

Charlotte Flair and Alexis Bliss (Champions) Defeated The Culling (Izzi Dame and Tatum Paxley (With Shawn Spears)  Via Pinfall

This match kicked off with a bizarre exchange between Bliss and Paxley in which the two like minded peculiar women tried to psych the other out. Powerhouses Dame and Flair absolutely destroyed one another with chops and stiff forearms. Amongst a chaotic scene, Bliss planted Paxley with ‘twisted bliss’ to retain the championships for her team.

Backstage, Shayna Baszler gave the team of Zaruca a pep talk, advising the duo to apologize and  get back on the same page.

Match Two

Tag Team Match:

Carmello Hayes and Trick Williams  Defeated DIY (Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano)  Via Pinfall

The tag team match that some called “the biggest in NXT history” began with Gargano and Hayes showing their similar athletic abilities and styles, resulting in a stalemate. Interestingly, ‘Trick Mello Gang’ continued to have some miscommunications, raising the question if they were on the same page. In the end, while the official was distracted, Mello’s Smackdown tag partner The Miz gave Johnny a ‘skull crushing finale’, rolled him back into the ring allowing Hayes to hit ‘nothing but net’ and pick up the win for his team.

Backstage, while United States Champion Sammi Zayn was being interviewed, Je’Von Evans and Josh Briggs got into a physical altercation.

Match Three

NXT North American Championship Match:

‘All Ego’ Ethan Page (Champion) Defeated Tyler Breeze Via Pinfall

The ruthless champion bested and proceeded to mock ‘Prince Pretty’ in the early moments of the match, proving that he has the ability and mean streak to back up his arrogance. Breeze withstood the onslaught, including kicking out of ‘the ego’s edge, proving what all he would go through to win his first singles championship in WWE. This highly competitive generational clash ended when Page sent Tyler crashing from the top rope with his ‘twisted grin’ finisher to remain “the greatest North American”.

Backstage, Damian Priest told Tavion Heights he spoke to NXT GM Ava and arranged for him to face Ethan Page for the NXT North American Championship at No Mercy.

Future opponents NXT Champion Oba Femi and Ricky Saints were guests on The Grayson Waller Effect, before their scheduled match at No Mercy. While the two men were exchanging harsh words, they were interrupted by TNA Champion Trick Williams who wanted to remind Oba that they had unfinished business. Grayson Waller proposed that Williams and Femi compete next week in a ‘champion vs champion’ match and the winner will face Saints at No Mercy. After this match was made official, many TNA superstars voiced their anger over their brand’s championship being held by a WWE superstar.

Former NXT Champion Finn Balor interrupted Lexis King, who was trash talking the black and gold era of NXT and his rival Myles Bourne. This distraction allowed Bourne to sneak attack Lexis, gaining some measure of revenge before their match at No Mercy.

Match Four

Six Woman Tag Match:

Rhea Ripley, Lyra Valkyria and Stephanie Vaquer Defeated Fatal Influence (NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx) Via Pinfall

Proving that NXT’s women’s division is the brand’s “backbone”, this star studded six woman tag match closed the show. Fatal Influence wasted no time and attacked their opponents before the bell rang, gaining an early advantage. Once in the match, Rhea took control causing Jayne to try and leave. The champion would be stopped and forced back into the ring by her No Mercy opponent Lola Vice, allowing Ripley to hit Jacy with the ‘riptide’; picking up the win for the team of NXT alumni.
