The show kicked off with Tyler Strategious taunting the crowd by coming out to Loveable Lester’s music knowing that Double L would not be at the show tonight. As Tyler was informing everyone that he was the only person in charge tonight, he got a taste of his own medicine when his music played and Ryan Steel came out wearing Strategious’ blazer. Steel demanded Tyler put him in a match against WVWF Champion Aaron James, and when the match was not made, an enraged Steel pushed Tyler to the ground. Strategious decided to use his “unchecked power” to place Steel in a match later in the evening, but would not tell anyone who it was going to be against.
Match One:
‘The Controversy King’ Wyatt Black Defeated ‘The Emperor’ Tony Sane Via Pinfall
Right as the bell sounded, Black began his usual tactics of talking trash. This would backfire as Sane would knock Wyatt out of the ring, causing a fight on the outside in which Sane would get the better of his opponent. Back in the ring, the more experienced Wyatt took control and slammed Tony to the mat. Black grabbed a phone and decided to record himself attacking Sane, but things would not go as planned as it gave Tony the chance to spear the arrogant ‘Controversy King’. Before Sane could make it over to Wyatt to cover him, a masked man appeared and held his feet while Wyatt delivered his signature running knee. The interference and knee to the face was enough to put down the very game debuting Sane and give Wyatt the unpopular win.
After the match, it was revealed that the masked man was of all people Aaron James. The rest of The Institute came out and attacked Sane. Nate Steel tried to help The Emperor, but the numbers were too strong to overcome and both men were laid out.
Match Two
Triple Threat Match:
Ryan Steel Defeated Josh Jade and Allen Platinum Via Pinfall
A very fired up Steel spent most of this match taking his anger out on his opponents, oftentimes having sole control of the contest. This fury caused Jade and Platinum to team up to deliver tandem offense. Eventually, Steel would drop Allen with a devastating ‘Air Raid Crash’ to win the match.
Match Three
Two Out Of Three Falls Tag Team Match
Damnation (Phantom and The Blood Beast With Amon and ‘Brutal’ Ben Metal) Defeated Cease and Desist (Hypeman Dan Lasers and ‘The Rare Bird’ Chris Phoenix)
Fall One: Cease and Desist
Damnation isolated Phoenix for much of the first fall, utilizing quick tags and some questionable offense consistently overlooked by a rather lenient referee Tori. Once in the ring, the Hypeman placed Phantom in a guillotine choke and used some very well placed kicks to chop down the massive Blood Beast. In the end, Phoenix landed a ‘Swanton Bomb’ on Phantom to score the first fall.
Fall Two: Damnation
An angered Blood Beast wasted no time and chokeslammed Phoenix to pick up the immediate second fall.
Fall Three: Damnation
After Lasers and Blood Beast exchanged strikes, Beast sent Dan into a well positioned Phantom who dropped him with a superkick giving Damnation the third and final fall.
Match Four
Triple Threat Match For The USWA Universal Championship:
Taufua (Champion) Defeated Prodigy and Damian Abel
Abel and Prodigy teamed up to take down the dominant champion. The strategic alliance quickly dissolved when Prodigy superlicked Abel. Throughout most of the match several alliances would be formed and quickly stopped by each man’s desire to be champion. After many near falls, Taufua speared Abel to successfully retain his championship.
After the match, each man gave one another a sign of respect that they all had earned during this battle.
Brock Hudson came out to once again ask his former tag partner Wildcat to team up again and join the upcoming tag team championship tournament. Wildcat declined the offer and was forced to hit the persistent Hudson with a mic. After Wildcat left, Brock kept saying he would not stop until The South Beach Boys reform. This whole scene angered Wildcat’s wife, who entered the ring and low blowed Hudson.
During intermission, Ryan Steel once again attacked Tyler Strategious in the center of the ring. This ambush forced Tyler to suspend Steel indefinitely without pay.
Match Five
USWA Keystone State Championship Match:
‘Psycho Killa’ Dae Jamison (Champion) Defeated ‘Brutal’ Ben Metal (With Damnation) Via Disqualification
The highly anticipated rematch began with a showing of mutual respect and the two talented competitors trying to out wrestle the other. For much of the match, they traded creative submissions that would only be stopped when one would hit an unexpected powermove or simply throw a right hand. During the chaos for the Keystone State championship, Damnation’s Chase Maddox hit Dae with a steel chair causing the disqualification.
Before any more damage could be inflicted on Dae, his Collective tag team partner Am-Po came out to even the odds. Given the unsatisfying way the match ended and Maddox’s interference, an impromptu tag match was immediately made.
Match Six
Impromptu Tag Team Match:
The Collective (Dae Jamison and Am-Po The Destroya) Defeated Damnation (Chase Maddox and Ben Metal With Amon) Via Pinfall
The powerhouses from each team, Am-Po and Chase Maddox, started this match by beating the life out of one another, trying to establish dominance as early in the contest as possible. Before long, Dae and Ben would continue their unfinished business with more technical wrestling until Chase came in and laid in stiff forearms and sent Dae crashing to the mat with a massive Belly to Belly suplex. After moments of high impact action, Jamison naturalized Ben and The Collective hit a running knee/ suplex combination on Maddox to pick up the victory and gain some retribution for the earlier interference.
Match Seven
WVWF Women’s Championship Match
The ‘Sick and Twisted’ Jayde Mae (Champion) Defeated Rikku Saint Helen Via Pinfall
Once the bell rang, Rikku swarmed the champion and overpowered her; a strategy she would use throughout this entire match. Mae fired back with a bulldog and merciless chokes, trying to ground the larger challenger. While Rikku had Mae lifted up on her shoulders the official was inadvertently knocked down. While the official was incapacitated, Wyatt Black came out and started a fist fight with his rival Saint Helen. Rikku’s dad entered the ring, seemingly to protect his daughter but in a very shocking event clotheslined his own child. Mae capitalized on the betrayal and dropped Rikku with an X-Factor to retain her championship.
Match Eight
WVWF Hybrid Championship Match
‘The Chemical Valley Gunslinger’ James Enoch (With Paul Eough) Defeated ‘The Fabulous’ Phoebe Harper Via Pinfall
Enoch immediately tried to ‘Black Hole Slam’ Harper, but she reversed it into a hurricanrana. For most of the match Enoch overpowered her and slammed her multiple times, including in one instance with a devastating DDT. The plucky Harper stayed in the match longer than most thought possible, and managed to strike back with innovative offense or quite frankly strikes to the face, showing her fearlessness and resilience. In the end, the champion did hit a ‘Black Hole Slam’ massive enough to keep the Hybrid championship with him and within The Institute.
Match Nine:
Last Man Standing Match For The WVWF Mountain State Championship
‘Blue Collar Beef’ Dax Preacher (Champion) Defeated ‘Outlaw For Hire’ Nate Steel
Before long dangerous weapons were introduced, including gusset plates that were beaten into each man’s skull. In a very uncomfortable moment, Nate Steel ran a weed wacker across Beef’s back, creating immediate welts. Beef rebounded and punished the challenger by hitting the outlaw in the back with a 2×4 wrapped in barbed wire. Amongst all the very violent carnage, both men struck each other at the same exact time, forcing the referee to count them both. Wyatt Black came out and taped Steel’s feet to the ringpost, creatively preventing him from getting back on his feet before the ten count. Preacher won a very hard fought battle and further proved what he is willing to go through to retain his championship
After the match, Wyatt Black hit Steel with a cane and a running knee. Tony Sane tried to make the save, but the lights went out and the rest of The Institute were in the ring. Damian Abel came out and evened the numbers, forcing The Institute to make a strategic retreat. Once things were relatively calm, an emotional Nate Steel talked about having the opportunity to become a singles champion for the first time in his 10 year career taken from him and a six man tag match was made for the next show.
