TNA has officially confirmed that AJ Styles, one of its most iconic alumni will appear at TNA Slammiversary this Sunday.

The announcement came via a cinematic vignette that aired during Thursday’s edition of Impact Wrestling. The teaser featured historic clips of TNA action, culminating in a visual of Styles’ unmistakable ring jacket resting in a TNA-branded storage bin. As dust was theatrically blown off the jacket, fans instantly recognized the symbolism—The Phenomenal One is coming home. Notably, Styles’ name or face was never explicitly shown, adding to the mystique surrounding his return.

While it’s still unclear whether Styles will step into the ring or simply make an appearance, speculation is running wild. Styles has not wrestled since a mid-June episode of WWE Raw, where he faced JD McDonagh. However, the 48-year-old veteran stated earlier this summer that he’s open to competing in a TNA ring once again. This Sunday could mark his first TNA match in over a decade.

Styles’ last TNA bout came in December 2013 when he lost a no disqualification match to Nick Aldis—then known as Magnus—for the TNA World Championship. That match symbolically closed a chapter in TNA history, but with this announcement, a new one may be about to begin.

This monumental moment is part of the ongoing multi-year partnership between WWE and TNA Wrestling, a groundbreaking collaboration that has already seen shared talent and cross-promotional opportunities that were once thought impossible.

Styles was a foundational figure in the early days of TNA, making his debut on the company’s second-ever NWA-TNA pay-per-view in June 2002. Over the next 11 years, he became one of its most celebrated stars, winning:

  • 2 TNA World Championships
  • 6 X-Division Championships
  • 2 Tag Team Championships
  • 2 King of the Mountain Championships

As one of the most decorated performers in TNA history, his return is more than nostalgia—it’s a full-circle moment that underscores the power of legacy in professional wrestling.
