Match One:
Joe Hendry Defeated Wes Lee (With High Rise) Via Pinfall
The match started with the two skilled athletes having a very technical exchange, with each trying to out wrestle the other. After a fairly even stalemate, Lee implemented the fast paced style that has brought him a lot of success; landing high flying moves including a twisting crossbody for a near fall. Hendry slowed down the momentum by utilizing his strength and amateur wrestling background. Amongst the chaos, TNA superstar Mike Santana took out Wes’s ‘High Rise’ stable mates, clearing the way for Hendry to sit the ‘Standing Ovation’ chokeslam for the victory.
Luca Crusifino came out to address the ongoing issues with Tony D’angelo. Luca gave Tony a very impassioned speech about how he never doubted the Don,recapping their relationship. Before D’angelo could respond, Heritage Cup Champion Stacks interrupted and entered the ring making this tense situation even more confusing. In a shocking turn of events, Luca laid out both men and declared his loyalty lies with himself.
Backstage, NXT Champion Oba Femi was being interviewed by Kelly Kincaid about who he will face at NXT Great American Bash. Femi was interrupted by potential challenger, Yoshiki Inamura who said he’s ready for the test.
Match Two:
Myles Borne Defeated Lexis King Via Pinfall
Lexis King controlled most of the beginning of the match, shutting down any offensive advantage Borne attempted to gain, even hitting a massive superplex from the top rope for a near fall. After being slapped in the face, Borne fired up and dropped King with an Olympic slam for a near fall of his own. In the end, Myles hit a ‘zig zag’ to pick up the win.
Match Three:
Lainey Reid Defeated Thea Hail Via Pinfall
The frenetic spitfire Hail wasted little time overwhelming her opponent, giving the newcomer Reid no time to breathe. Lainey endured the flurry and used her strength advantage to slow Hail down, gaining a near fall after a brutal shoulder breaker. After exchanging pinfall attempts, Reid landed a knee strike and rolled up hail to defeat Hail. This victory was controversial as Reid got unfair leverage by grabbing Hail’s tights and Thea’s arm was under the bottom rope.
Backstage, The No Quarter Cath Crew were discussing Tavion Heights match last week. Tavion asked for a match against the group’s leader, Charlie Dempsey, where if he wins he would be able to leave the NQCC. Dempsey agreed to the match with the condition if Charlie wins the two would not have this discussion again. That match will take place next week.
Match Four
Tag Team Match:
Tatum Paxley and Izzi Dame (With The Culling) Defeated Za-Ruca (Zaria and NXT Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca) Via Pinfall
As soon as the bell rang, both teams demonstrated unity in spite of what each one had been saying about the other. The two powerhouses, Zaria and Dame, clashed and both women rocked one another with massive right hands. Za-Ruca combined their strength and high flying ability to create some very unique offense, including Zaria bench pressing Paxley allowing Sol to dove off Tatum’s back. Right as the massive Zaria was going to spear Dame, Paxley pushed her out of the way, sending Zaria crashing into her own tag team partner. While everyone was trying to figure out what was going on, Dame delivered a sitdown powerbomb on Ruca to pick up the win for her team.
Backstage, NXT North American Champion ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page (with The Vanity Project) and Ricky Saints were in NXT GM Ava’s office to discuss the possibility of the two rivals having a rematch. Page said he would only do that if Ricky went through The Vanity Project in a gauntlet match. Saints agreed to the challenge, on the condition that if he were to win that he could make the stipulation for the rematch. Ava liked both men’s ideas and made that match official.
Backstage, Joe Hendry and Mike Santana were being interviewed. It was announced that the two will be teaming up next week to face High Rise.
Backstage, The Culling and Tatum Paxley were celebrating their win. The group were joined by NXT GM Ava who informed Izzi that since she pinned the NXT Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca earlier, she will receive a championship match at The Great American Bash. NXT Tag Team Champions, Hank and Tank, accused The Culling of attacking them. While everyone was yelling, Ava granted The Culling a tag team championship match next week
Match Five
NXT Heavyweight Championship Number One Contenders Match:
Yoshiki Inamura Defeated Jasper Troy Via Pinfall
Once the bell rang, the colossal Troy exercised his power and threw Inamura around the ring, earning an early near fall. Inamura withstood the barrage, used his power and sumo wrestling background to slam Jasper and send him out of the ring. Things would devolve into a hoss fight with both big men brutalizing each other. In the end, Yoshiki climbed to the top rope and sent all of his weight crashing into Jasper with a splash devastating enough to become the new number one contender for the NXT Heavyweight Championship. After the match, Je’von Evans ambushed Troy, earning some retribution for recent attacks.
The number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship at Evolution, ‘The Juggernaut’ Jordynne Grace, to reflect on her journey to WWE and talk about what this historic opportunity means to her. Grace would be interrupted by her opponent, NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne (with Fatal Influence), to remind everyone she is at the top of the division. A fight broke out with Fatal Influence having the numbers advantage. Fortunately for Grace, Blake Monroe came out and evened the odds. After the brawl, Ava announced that Jane and Fallon Henley would take on Jordynne Grace and Blake Monroe at The Great American Bash.
