Tonight’s episode of NXT will have four elimination matches where the winners of each match will compete in a fatal four next week. The eventual winner of the fatal four way will receive an NXT championship match at WWE Evolution July 13th.
Match One:
NXT Women’s Championship Elimination Qualifier Match
Jaida Parker Defeated Thea Hail Via Pinfall
The first elimination match would begin before the bell even rang, as ‘The Grown Ass Woman’ Thea Hail would attack the much larger Miss Parker. Despite the very visible size difference, the two would have a very physical match continuing their recent animosity. Hail would land a very impressive exploder suplex for an early near fall. Jaida would endure the initial onslaught and utilize her strength to slow down her fiery adversary. A relentless Thea continuously locked in her signature kimura lock, forcing Jada to tap out. While Hail was celebrating, the official would inform her that he had not seen the submission. Before Thea could process the news, Parker landed her hypnotic finisher to pick up the semi controversial victory.
Backstage Josh Briggs,Yoshiki and Elijah were talking about their upcoming six man tag match. The conversation would be interrupted by NXT Tag Team Champions Hank and Tank, The NXT Heavyweight Champion Oba Femi and TNA Champion Trick Williams.
Match Two:
NXT Women’s Championship Elimination Qualifier Match
‘The Boujee Bully’ Lash Legend Defeated ‘The Stand Out’ Kelani Jordan Via Pinfall
The ‘Boujee Bully’ certainly lived up to the name by asserting her power over the plucky Jordan. Kelani would stay in the match by fighting from underneath, oftentimes simply landing strikes. Legend would punish her opponent when she locked in a painful torture rack, trying to counter the aireal offense Kelani is known for. After failing to hit a 450 splash, Jordan would be caught and dropped with an innovative double armed sidewalk slam allowing Legend to advance into the fatal four way.
‘The Don of NXT’ Tony D’Angelo was in the ring calling out Luca Crusifino. Tony questioned his consigliere’s loyalty and demanded Luca pick a side between him and Stacks. Before Luca could give a definitive answer, their former family member Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo came out with a new group of men. All the men in the ring would start fighting, with Crusifino inadvertently striking D’angelo.
Backstage, TNA Champion Trick Williams was warming up for his match when he was informed that one of his tag partners, KC Navarro, was unable to compete and his replacement partner would be Wes Lee.
A Chase University segment would be shown, introducing the university’s newest members Kale Dixon and Uriah Connors.
NXT commentators gave an unfortunate medical update on Ricky Saints, informing everyone that Saints had suffered trauma to his larynx after his match with Ethan Page.
Backstage, after Tavion Heights expressed his desire to leave the No Quarter Cath Crew, their leader Charlie Dempsey said if Tavion can beat his friend Je’Von Evans next week he would let Heights leave.
Match Three:
Six Man Tag Match
Josh Briggs,Yoshiki and Elijah Defeated Trick Williams, AJ Francis and Wes Lee Via Pinfall
The multiman man match kicked off with friends Josh and Yoshiki displaying some very good tag team cohesion, using quick tags to get the better of their opponents. Powerhouse AJ Francis was able to shift the momentum for his team, using his strength to flatten Yoshiki with a spear for a near fall. The match would break down as all six men began to hit one another, creating a very chaotic scene. Amongst the turmoil, Wes Lee accidentally knocked down Williams allowing Yoshiki to hit a massive splash on him. After sending all of his weight crashing down onto the TNA Champion, Yoshiki picked up the hard earned win for his team.
Backstage, in her office, NXT GM Ava informed Tony D’angelo that Stacks would be facing the heritage cup champion Noam Dar at the request of his “consigliere” furthering Tony’s suspicions of Luca.
Match Four:
NXT Women’s Championship Elimination Qualifier Match
Izzi Dame (With the Culling) Defeated Zaria (With Sol Roca) Via Pinfall
The two scrappy competitors began this match by exchanging hard strikes, with Zaria gaining the initial advantage. Izzi displayed her mean streak by hitting a lungblower, big boot, a body slam and a massive chokeslam for a few near falls. While Zaria was closing in on victory, she was distracted by Tatum Paxley, who appeared practically out of nowhere. Dame capitalized on the distraction and sent Zaria crashing to the mat with a sit down powerbomb devastating enough for her to advance to the fatal four way.
Backstage, Josh Briggs was trying to convince Yoshiki that he deserves a TNA championship match since he pinned Trick Williams. Yoshiki said he returned to help Briggs and if he were to be given that match he would give it to Briggs. Later in the evening, it was announced that Briggs will face Trick Williams for the championship next week.
Match Five:
NXT Women’s Championship Elimination Qualifier Match
Jordynne Grace Defeated Lola Vice Via Pinfall
The two skilled fighters began this match by trying to out wrestle the other. The former MMA competitor Vice landed some devastating right hands, slowing down the Juggernaut long enough to hit Grace with her signature hipcheck in the corner. For much of the match, Lola dissected Grace, locking in several armbars. In the end, Jordynne rebounded with a death valley driver, fisherman’s suplex and finally hitting ‘Beast Mode’ to pick up the victory.
Next week we will see Jordynne Grace, Lash Legend, Jaida Parker and Izzi Dame compete in a fatal four way match where the winner will get to face the NXT Women’s Champion Jacey Jane at WWE Evolution.
In the main event segment, NXT’s newest signee ‘The Glamour’ Blake Monroe fka Mariah May signed her contract. Before the ink on Monroe’s signature could dry, Fatal Influence interrupted the proceedings and would send Blake crashing through a table.
