In a strategic play to capitalize on the booming demand for free ad-supported streaming television (FAST), Paramount Global Content Distribution has unveiled plans to debut Wrestling Central, a dedicated all-wrestling FAST channel. The announcement comes ahead of the company’s presentation at this year’s LA Screenings.
The new digital destination, launching exclusively on The Roku Channel in the U.S. and Canada, will showcase a powerhouse lineup of wrestling content from two acclaimed promotions: the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and WOW – Women Of Wrestling. Notably, this marks the first time NWA programming will be available on a FAST channel, broadening access to one of wrestling’s most historic brands.
“This new FAST Channel premiering exclusively on The Roku Channel from two of the most exciting wrestling promotions will offer fans an exclusive and unique destination to catch both new, action-packed matches along with hundreds of hours of classic library content,” said Dan Cohen, Paramount’s Chief Content Licensing Officer and President of Republic Pictures.
Wrestling Central will roll out a comprehensive mix of current matches, archival episodes, never-before-seen bouts, specials, and behind-the-scenes documentaries. With this offering, Paramount positions itself at the intersection of nostalgia, innovation, and growing demand for free, accessible entertainment.
Now in its third season, WOW – Women Of Wrestling stands tall as the preeminent all-female professional wrestling brand in North America. Co-founded and co-owned by sports executive Jeanie Buss and David McLane—who also created the iconic GLOW: Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling—WOW has carved out a powerful niche. Featuring its roster of “WOW Superheroes,” the franchise blends high-flying athleticism with serialized drama, aiming to both entertain and empower.
Meanwhile, the NWA brings legacy and gravitas to the channel. Established in 1948, the organization once reigned as the central authority in professional wrestling and has produced legends including Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, and the Funk brothers. In recent years, the NWA has experienced a resurgence under the leadership of Billy Corgan—best known as the frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins—who acquired the promotion in 2017 with the goal of restoring its prestige.
Current champions such as Thom Latimer and Kenzie Paige now lead the brand into a new era, with Wrestling Central set to offer fans old and new a dynamic mix of contemporary action and vintage storytelling.
With Wrestling Central, Paramount Global Content Distribution doubles down on two of the industry’s fastest-growing trends: the rise of FAST channels and the ever-expanding appetite for live-action sports entertainment. As the streaming wars continue to evolve, this channel could be a main event all its own.
